Terracorridor house

Helsinki, Finland, 2026–

1,600 m2 residential building with 16 apartments and shared/commercial space in Laajasalo, Helsinki. The project aims to respond to the transforming housing market by offering qualities of low density housing in an urban context. At the core is the “Terracorridor house” concept, which is a reinterpretation of the traditional external corridor. The concept explores in particular how to turn fire safety regulations into qualitative strengths. This is reflected, for example, in smart uses of the spaces with windows facing the external corridor. The goal is to realize an exceptionally high quality of living through an owner-occupied, market-rate and (also economically) accessible housing development, enabled by technical and spatial efficiency. The project is a part of the city of Helsinki’s Re-Thinking Urban Housing Programme.
